Did you know that during Operation Desert Storm, Saddam Hussein claimed on Iraqi television that Saratoga had been sunk, along with several other Coalition vessels? On one occasion during the war, a missile, possibly a Scud, was launched in the general direction of Saratoga in the Red Sea, but it was either unguided, or launched on a hunch, as it was determined early in its flight path it would miss by more than 100 nautical miles (200 km).
